We have the wonderful news to share, Forest School Day (FSD) has been grated Social Enterprise status!

An incredible amount of work was completed last year by a few like-minded individuals to develop and launch the UK’s first national Forest School Day.  A day to celebrate all that is great and wonderful about forest school. The launch of this new celebration day coincided with the anniversary of 25 years of UK forest school and was a great success with celebrations being held over the UK.

We had limited resources in our foundation year there was a conscious effort to ensure any work completed provided a platform and excellent foundation in which to hold future celebrations and contribute to our long term vision. To establish an inclusive celebration day that was created by and for the forest school community. Creating a day we can all be proud of.

Part of this body of work was to formalise what was Forest School Day about? Collating a set of objectives to answering basic  questions about FSD such as: What was the day trying to achieve? Who was it for and how we intend for individuals to be able to get involved? We enlisted the advice and support of Eastside Prime Timers, a company of specialist consultants in the social sector. They guided us through selecting the right business format for the FSD idea. They were simply invaluable in guiding us through the process of formalising FSA into the correct non-for-profit business format.

So here we are in 2019 a new Social Enterprise for Forest School!
