I have an idea!
That’s how it started. An idea that would not go away. I asked, “Why haven’t we got a special day for Forest School?”
Katey Hügi, Forest School Day Founder and Director.
The idea was simple. Organise a framework where individuals, including parents, woodland owners, pupils, headteachers, leaders the general public could connect, share and celebrate their love of Forest School.
The Forest School Day project was born!
In 2018, UK Forest School was 25 years old. To mark the occasion our inclusive, annual Forest School Day was created by and for the Forest School community. It was a great success. In the same year Forest School Day, the social enterprise was formed to coordinate future celebration days.
Forest School Day continued to grow and in 2020 we received Forest School Day registrations in over 47 counties in the UK!
A celebration - the Forest School values way!
It is very much part of the Forest School Day values that our celebrations are inclusive and provides an opportunity for you to connect with nature. We encourage our community to celebrate our love of Forest School in a Forest School values way!
Now in our fourth year, we are seeing Forest School day celebrations being held all over the UK and now internationally! Celebrating in local events or community events in your own Forest School setting, with your own Forest School community.
